Under what license are you distributing the Songbird source code to the public?
Files that are our original creations, are original or modified versions of XUL Runner, or are original or modified versions of VLC are distributed to the public under the GPL Version 2 (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html).
Files that are our original creations are copyright POTI Inc.. We plan to keep the vast majority, if not all, of our source code available under a GPL license.
Our modifications to XUL Runner are also available to the public under a MPL and LGPL license (in addition to the GPL license discussed above).
Under what license are you distributing the Songbird binary?
The license of Songbird's binary is the GPL Version 2. This license does not grant you permission to use any of our trademarks such as the name Songbird, our logos, and our skins feathers.
We may release the Songbird binary under a different license in the future but we plan to keep the vast majority, if not all, of our source code available under a GPL license.
Yes. Bugzilla and Forums are open. We are working on SVN and a contribution policy as well.

We license XUL Runner from Mozilla under the GPL.

Yes, as long as you
- Do not use any of our trademarks such as the name Songbird, our logos, and
skinsfeathers. - License our original code under the terms of the GPL and abide by those terms.
- License other necessary code such as XUL Runner and VLC under their respective licenses and abide by those terms.
Can I license your code under terms other than the GPL?
You should email us if you would like to license our code under terms other than the GPL to discuss an alternative licensing scheme.
Can I distribute Songbird?
You can distribute our most recent, official, unmodified binary with no additional work. You can also distribute modified binaries and source code as long as you follow the terms described above.
