ATTENTION QTRAX USERS

ATTENTION QTRAX USERS
Are you having problems with the Qtrax service or the Qtrax player? You should direct your comments to
http://qtrax.com/contact.html
You may be wondering, "How are Songbird and Qtrax related?" Glad you asked. :)
Songbird (our company name is POTI, Inc.) makes a desktop media player called the Songbird Player. Qtrax licensed the Songbird Player, added the Qtrax brand, changed the look, and then integrated the Qtrax advertising supported music download service. If you speak geek, Songbird is a software platform providing open API's to allow seamless integration of devices and services into a desktop media player using markup, Javascript, CSS and other Web developer tools.
Songbird doesn't own or operate the Qtrax music service, and we're sorry to report that we can't fix your problems. If you have issues with the Qtrax service or the Qtrax player, you'll need to chat with Qtrax.
Sorry for the confusion!

STICKY: HOWTO: Add a 15-band-EQ to songbird (Ubuntu 7.10)
Submitted by qinjuehang on Thu, 12/13/2007 - 12:35am.
Disclaimer: You have about as much, maybe more, tools than professional studios have in terms of hardware. There is a risk of screwing up your settings and making your favourite band sound as good as the dog barking outside your window. No pun intended. Really.
1. Type into the terminal:
sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad jackd jack-rack ubuntustudio-audio-plugins jack-tools patchage
2.Alt-F2, and type gconf-editor to open gconf-editor.
3.Go to /system/gstreamer/0.10/default in gconf-editor.
4.Change the value of musicaudiosink to "jackaudiosink connect=none" (if it doesn't work, check if you accidentally copied my quotes over)
5.Create a file in your home directory, and name it .jack.plumbing.
6.Open a Terminal window, and type "gedit ~/.jack.plumbing" in it.
7.Copy the following code in:
(connect "Songbird:out_1" "jack_rack:in_1") and save.
(connect "Songbird:out_2" "jack_rack:in_2")
(connect "jack_rack:out_1" "alsa_pcm:playback_1")
(connect "jack_rack:out_2" "alsa_pcm:playback_2")
8.Open up Jack Control, start Jack, JackRack, and Songbird.
9.Click the Add button on JackRack, select multiband equilizer, and u are done. You can use a lot of special effects too, I created a concert setting once. There is a lot of freedom.
Hint: If you feel that your music sounds jerky, go to the Setup on JACK control, click Soft Mode. If it doesn't help, or does not solve the problem completely, try increasing Periods/Buffer. 4 works perfectly for me.

Well, nobody sent me the memo, but last month simplehelp.net wrote a really nice article on everything you need to know to get your iPod working all nice and friendly with Songbird.
If you've had any troubles, this should hopefully straighten you out.
