Ensure the hatching of Songbird is defect free. As the lead QA engineer for our web media player, collaborate with a highly talented group of in-house developers along with a large community of testers and developers.
The ideal profile:
We are looking for a self-starter who is not afraid to get his/her hands dirty. This is an opportunity to build our Bird quality assurance team from the ground up and to do it right. You should have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact directly with the open source community. You need to be detail oriented and passionate about keeping quality standards very high. You have demonstrated interest in test driven development.
You will supervise a core set of desktop application testers. You will collaborate with the bird engineering team to plan test coverage from both the API and GUI perspectives. You have a solid understanding of browser/web technologies. You must have experience with C++, Javascript and/or XML/XUL code source. You must have experience testing APIs for desktop applications.
Responsibilities:
- Own/drive the testing for our Songbird desktop media browser.
- Supervise, delegate, adjust the testing coverage/team personnel assignments in support of multiple ongoing projects.
- Review new features to create test plans/test matrixes and execute test cases.
- Perform automated as well as manual testing as required.
- Interact and coordinate with in-house developers and community to manage bug reports.
Qualifications:
- Requires at least 3 years of experience in a QA Lead role with 3-5 years experience testing desktop applications, preferably media oriented.
- Experience working on multiple platforms (OS X, Linux, Windows).
- Experience running automated test suites created with Java, PERL, Ruby and/or Python.
- Ability to analyze, verify and write high quality bug reports.
- Experience with MP3/mobile devices a plus.
This position reports to the Director of Quality Assurance.
Availability: Full-time.
