We are hiring an experienced, consumer-focused Product Manager ready to take hands-on ownership of the day-to-day definition and project management of Songbird, our flagship product.
The ideal profile:
You know digital media consumers better than they know themselves. You demand elegant design and simple solutions fit for everyday use. You know DMCA and DRM, and meta-data from microformats. You’re comfortable engaging novice users and collaborating with engineers. You excel in distilling product concepts into focused, prioritized use cases, and marching those priorities through a development organization to launch.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor digital media market dynamics and identify customer needs and trends.
- Translate market needs, business goals and feature concepts into prioritized user scenarios and product requirements.
- Collaborate with UI design and engineering as the end users’ champion in the design and implementation of Songbird features.
- Evaluate and accept final feature designs and implementations, engaging other stakeholders as appropriate.
- Shepherd product features through our modified-agile design and development process, from concept to release.
- Contribute to the formation of the company’s overall product roadmaps and feature prioritization.
- Perform other activities as may be specified by the position’s supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years product management or product design experience in consumer software (agile development experience a plus)
- BA/BS, preferably in Product Design, HCI or similar (CS degree or MBA a plus)
- Innate and educated grasp of the digital media marketplace and relevant technologies
- Superior ability to channel the expectations of our customers
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Highly organized, focused and detail-oriented self-starter
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Love of music and media
- High level of professionalism, passion, ethics, confidence and commitment
This position reports to the Vice President of Product.
Availability: Full-time.
Location: You are preferably located near San Francisco, California.
