The ideal profile:

You know digital media consumers better than they know themselves. You demand elegant design and simple solutions fit for everyday use. You know DMCA and DRM, and meta-data from microformats. You’re comfortable engaging novice users and collaborating with engineers. You excel in distilling product concepts into focused, prioritized use cases, and marching those priorities through a development organization to launch.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor digital media market dynamics and identify customer needs and trends.
  • Translate market needs, business goals and feature concepts into prioritized user scenarios and product requirements.
  • Collaborate with UI design and engineering as the end users’ champion in the design and implementation of Songbird features.
  • Evaluate and accept final feature designs and implementations, engaging other stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Shepherd product features through our modified-agile design and development process, from concept to release.
  • Contribute to the formation of the company’s overall product roadmaps and feature prioritization.
  • Perform other activities as may be specified by the position’s supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years product management or product design experience in consumer software (agile development experience a plus)
  • BA/BS, preferably in Product Design, HCI or similar (CS degree or MBA a plus)
  • Innate and educated grasp of the digital media marketplace and relevant technologies
  • Superior ability to channel the expectations of our customers
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Highly organized, focused and detail-oriented self-starter
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Love of music and media
  • High level of professionalism, passion, ethics, confidence and commitment
