Two simple Qs... and confused..

Hi all [iMac] - discovered Songbird last week and would love to support this project.

However I have a couple of problems. Firstly I visited the Preferences and although extensive they almost all appear to be about 'browsing', tabs, web site blocking, pop-ups, fonts, history and cookies etc ... which I would expect to see in Firefox but this is a Media Player .. where are the preferences for playing music ?

I want to play a song that I double click on and stop. But Songbird keeps playing whatever is next in the Library listing. Am I missing something or is there an option somewhere to get it to stop after playing the one track I chose ? I also downloaded and installed the AlbumApplet addon but despite installing it and cho0sing it in the 'View' menu ... I see nothing ..

Also how do I search the forums so that I don't waste everyone's (including my own) time if this has already been dealt with ?

All the best,

Saoir

Not sure about playing a song only once unless you deal with playlists, etc, which doesn't seem like what you want to do...

As for the album applet: if you click view/album applet, a pane should appear above the tracks list with album covers. It doesn't work very well for me though. Very slow, I uninstalled it. Maybe my library is too big, not sure...

Thanks ChodaBoy... appreciate the help. I will try the applet again and leave it for five minutes to see what happens.

On the subject of playing just one song... is that not a strange problem ? I mean I want to sit and play one song ...and then maybe chose another when it's finished. Is this an unusual thing to want to do ?

saoir5k, Unfortunately the album applet requires java 1.6, and java 1.6 on mac is 64-bit only, whereas songbird & firefox are built 32-bit. Since that add-on is community contributed the best we can do is ask nicely for something that works on the mac.

As for your play a single song and not another, that's the first time I've heard of that, but everyone has their own listening habits. I'd suggest you create a playlist and throw the song in there and play the playlist to achieve this type of behavior. You can also file a feature suggestion and we'll see what we can do. If we get enough of you who clamor for this, odds are we'll put it on the to do list.

Ahhh... I understand.. so I shouldn't have expected it to work on my iMac...

No one wants to play a single song ? wow.. I never thought that would be a niche requirement ;)

TYhanks for all the help guys !
