One major reason why I stopped (temporarily) recommending Songbird, it still lacks Gapless playback support.

Most people will only try the software once, they will never try it again since they are using iTunes, etc. You know "why fix it when it is not broken" mindset.

I hope this basic feature will be included in Songbird 1.0. In fact, this must be included in 1.0 final. I wouldn't call it final version without these basic features.

I personally do not care about memory usage and such enhancements. I highly prefer to see important basic features such as full ID3v2.4/5 and gapless playback support.

So far, Songbird is doing great. Include the basic important features, then there will be no more reasons why not to use Songbird. The rest of the features and enhancements can come after 1.0 (like memory stuff imprints...)

Thanks for supporting our project! Gapless playback is dependent on finishing work on GStreamer, our new media core. That should be done in the next couple of releases. Once that's landed, you can expect this feature to go in. As for ID3v2.4/5, we've got a bug open for that too.
