While there's some promise here, I find it worrisome that Songbird apparently doesn't support unicode. On my machine, it doesn't like directories, filenames, or mp3 tags containing unicode. Yes, this is a 0.1 release, but unicode is something you have to write for from the start, it's often pretty difficult to back-port code written for narrow character sets to wide character sets. Maybe this is entirely in interfaces on the firefox code base which can be replaced easily enough; but if not, it's rather problematic... As it is, I can't get at nearly a quarter of my collection through Songbird because of this. Put another way, it doesn't do much good to allow menus in Japanese if song titles in Japanese aren't also supported!
I like the concept, and will be interested in seeing where this project goes; but it clearly has a long long way to get there... hopefully a Linux release will come soon, I might be interested in adding some support as a developer if I can work under Linux (I don't have a Windows dev-env at the moment beyond Cygwin, unfortunately).
